VELODACH is the Swiss accommodation directory for cyclists and hikers of all ages.
As a member, you agree to host registered travelers from Velodach for free upon request. In return, you have access to the addresses of other members for accommodation – based on the principle of reciprocity.

The most important principle: Only if you are willing to offer a place to sleep (at least one spot in the house or garden must be offered), do you have the right to take advantage of the offers on your trips. All persons living in the same household are entitled to use this service.
Velodach is a private, non-profit organization promoting environmentally friendly travel. Our services are maintained through volunteer work.
The annual membership fee is CHF 20 / € 20 (see point 16). This includes online access to about 500 hosts in Switzerland and abroad and the address directory as a PDF.
The personal proof of eligibility is provided through the address directory as a PDF and the entry on www.velodach.ch. Those who register during the current year are asked to pay the membership fee. If you register in October or later, the current year is free. The updated address directory (PDF) is published every spring. This is continuously updated and available for download.
Providing an email address serves for contact between guests and Velodach personally. Correspondence is generally conducted via email. Please keep your email address up to date at all times! Ensure that messages from Velodach do not end up in your spam folder.
As a host, you define your personal accommodation offer according to your possibilities. This can be simple and modest and should meet the following requirements:

Basically, a warm, dry corner with a minimum area of 2 x 1 m with a sleeping mat, sofa, mattress, or bed is sufficient. A lawn area in the garden for the tent provided or brought by the guest is also an option. Comfort is not the top priority. However, your guest will certainly appreciate a warm shower. In the Velodach directory (online and brochure), you will find these host information detailed.
A sleeping bag (inner sleeping bag) generally belongs in your travel luggage. Free dinner and breakfast are not a given. It is best for the guest and host to discuss this in advance to avoid any misunderstandings.
By the way: Every host will surely appreciate a small gift. Offering help is a matter of honor and is expected.
If you wish to stay with others, you should, whenever possible, inquire at least one day in advance whether you are welcome on the desired day.
In case of cancellation, the guest is expected to notify by phone in a timely manner.
Velodach is exclusively for personal use. Misuse of the data is not permitted for reasons of data protection. The address directory is only for contacting the host and may not be used for other purposes (e.g., advertising).
Maintaining the profile on velodach.ch is the responsibility of the members. To ensure the most up-to-date directory for everyone at all times, it is strongly recommended to carefully and diligently check your profile by the end of the year and make any necessary changes and additions. Velodach will send a corresponding reminder letter (feedback) by email.
The accommodation status "not available" should generally only be activated in exceptional cases and not for longer than 6 months at a time (principle of reciprocity!). Velodach regularly checks this status and does not tolerate any misuse.
Cancelling your membership is generally possible at any time. The prerequisite is that you have been listed in the directory for at least one year, making your address available to travelers (cyclists and hikers). The cancellation should always be explicitly stated. Please inform me of your wish to leave in writing by the end of December. This is the only way to ensure that no invalid entries are created, which would ultimately be annoying for all of us.
Insurance is the responsibility of the members. Velodach disclaims any liability for damages arising in connection with Velodach accommodations.
Please recommend Velodach to your friends, acquaintances, and relatives. This helps expand the network and open up even more accommodation options. Only in this way do we have a chance to ensure the existence of Velodach in the future. Thank you very much!
Here’s something on a personal note: Velodach is still a "one-man operation" and is maintained through volunteer work. It is very important to me to answer your wishes and questions, accept new members, and send out the brochure in a timely manner. However, please understand if it sometimes takes a little longer and forgive me for any mistakes. I do my best!
By registering, you agree that your information will be electronically processed for use by Velodach members and published online at velodach.ch as well as printed in the Velodach brochure.
